John Bryan, Brother
to Local Man, Was
Found Dead SaturdayBryan Owen received a message Saturday saying that his brother, John Bryan, had been found dead in his studio apartment that day. The men are sons of Mrs. Ruth Bryan Owen Rohde, former minister to Denmark. Deceased had dropped the name of "Owen" and was known by the name "Bryan."
State papers stated, "John Bryan, 38, artist, was found dead in his studio apartment. Police said Bryan, a grandson of the late William Jennings Bryan, apparently fell from a chair, striking has head on a desk. Bryan related he had been grazed recently by a taxicab, but said he did not regard the injury as serious. A check of accident reports was started by authorities.
Bryan is a son of Mrs. Rohde by a previous marriage. Major George Rohde, her husband, is stationed at Fort Totten, Long Island.
The local Mr. Owen says that an unfinished letter to one of the family was on John's desk. He says that it is a strange fact that his brother was in England during the entire "blitz" and escaped uninjured; then lose his life by accident soon after returning to America.
