Donald Wright, 91, died Jan. 17, 2006. He was born November 7, 1914 in Riceville, Iowa, to Gus and Nellie (Sisley) Wright.
Donald married Eileen McDonald on March 29, 1940, in Nashua, Iowa. They moved to the area September 1978 from Waterloo, Iowa.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lifetime member of American Legion, Charter member of the World War II Memorial, The Questers Woodchucks, The Odd Fellows since 1945. His hobbies were fishing in Canada, hunting and collecting antiques. He was a big baseball fan and played all over Europe during World War II and was scouted by Cincinnati Red Socks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Macella Bottomley.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen, of the home; one brother-in-law; Robert Bottomley, one sister-in-law, Bethel Lowe; three nieces, Karen Eileen Harter, Kathryn Jean Duke, Karla Lowe-Phelps; two nephews, James Allen Bottomley, Thomas Craig Bottomley; and 15 great-grandnieces and nephews.
A private visitation will be held Friday, January 20 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Parlor. Graveside service will be Saturday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. at the Rogers City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church located at 307 West Elm, Rogers, Arkansas 72756 and the Circle of Life Hospice located at 901 Jones Road, Springdale, Arkansas 72762.
Arrangements under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Home.
