Arthur Emil Kark
Arthur Emil Kark, 88, of Ft. Myers, Fla. and formerly from Osage, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.
Arthur was born on March 15, 1924 in Spencer, the son of Emil and Flora Kark. After graduating from high school in Blue Earth, Minnesota, he attended Iowa State University a short term time before enlisting in the Navy. On April 4, 1945, Arthur was united in marriage to Shirley Nell Sattre. They moved to Osage in 1946 where Arthur operated Kark Rendering Company for over 40 years.
Arthur served for many years on the Osage City Council where he helped facilitate construction of the many paved streets enjoyed by Osage residents for decades. He was also an active member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Sunny Brae Golf Club and a charter member of Osage Rotary Club. He was a man of uncommon friendliness and kindness and will be missed by his family and the many friends whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his sons, Richard Kark of Asheville, N.C., and Kenneth (Cindy) Kark of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and by his daughter, Sylvia Kark of Asheville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Julia and Colin Callander and Chris and Sarah Kark; one sister, Beverly Nave; and three brothers, Donald, Emil Jr. "Bud" and Robert; also nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirley Kark, and his sister Lorene Clark.
Memorial service arrangements are pending.
