OSAGE, IOWA — Services for Arnold Gesell, 69, a former Elma resident, who died Thursday at the White House Nursing Home in Osage following a long illness, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Elma. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery in Elma. Prayer service at 8 p.m. Friday at Conway Funeral Home in Elma.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise of Rudd; two step-daughters, Mrs. Irene Lund of Elma and Mrs. Elsie Westendorf of Fredericksburg; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Sweeney of Brainerd, Minnesota, and Mrs. Erma Light of Waukee; three brothers, Lester of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Arlyn of Carroll, and Gilbert of Elma.

MARRIAGE ANNOUNCEMENT:
Marriage vows of Eloise Cable, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McFarlane of Granby, Missouri, and Arnold Gesell, son of Mrs. Ida Giesell, were exchanged this (Thursday) morning at 10:30 o'clock in the St. Peter's Lutheran church.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Miss Shirley McFarlane of Granby, Another sister. Miss Eileen McFarlane, also of Granby, served as bridesmaid. Junior bridesmaids were the bride's two daughters Irene and Elsie Kay Cable. Miss Pamela Light of Cincinnati. Ohio, niece of the groom, served as flower girl. Joe Whitinger was ring bearer. The groom was attended by his brothers, Arlyn Gesell of Atlantic and Liester Gesell of Elma.
The bride is a graduate of the Riceville high school and prior to her marriage has been employed as teacher in the rural schools of Afton Township. The groom is a graduate of the Elma public school and is engaged in farming with his mother and brother near Elma. He is a director of the Elma Cooperative Creamery association and the Howard county Farm Bureau.
Mr. and Mrs. Gesell will be at home on the Gesell farm northwest of Elma.
