Funeral services were held Thursday, October 2, 1986 at Champion Funeral Home in Osage, Iowa, for Dorland Baker, 77, of Osage. Allen Weigant officiated and burial was in the Osage Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 278. Mr. Baker died on Monday, September 29, 1986 at an Osage nursing home.

Mr. Baker was born on March 8, 1909 in Orchard, Iowa, to William and Hattie (Cole) Baker. He attended schools in Orchard, McIntire and Fargo, North Dakota. He married Helen Jacobs on December 28, 1928 at the couple resided in Osage.

Mr. Baker worked for the Mitchell County Road Maintenance Department for 41 years, and was foreman for the last 20 years, until his retirement in 1971. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy Seabees.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Surivors include two daughters, Mrs. William (Jeanita) Virchow of Hudson, and Mrs. Jerry (Delores) Seeber of College Park, Georgia; a son, Jon, of Madison, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Dennis (Marie) Balsley of Orchard; and a special friend, Shirley Hartwig of Osage.
