Mary Ann Green
Mary Ann Green, 86, passed away on May 25, 2013, in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she resided for forty three years. She finally got relief from her long suffering after battling diabetes and kidney disease.
Born Mary Ann Muller on May 3, 1927, in Osage, Iowa, she moved to Charles City, Iowa, in her teens and immediately skipped two grades in high school graduating at barely 16 years old. Mary Ann married Marvin King on April 6, 1947, gave birth to her only child, David, in 1948, moved to town in 1955 then worked at Credit Finance. In 1960, she and Marvin purchased Hart Court, a very successful motel business.
After getting a divorce in 1968, she married Roy Green on February 6, 1970, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Mary Ann said she was tired of shoveling snow so that summer she and Roy moved to Phoenix where she worked as a trust administrator before retiring in 1986.
Mary Ann will always be remembered for being a great cook and was very proud of her many friends in Charles City. Her son, David, was the organist with Ringling Bros. Circus.
She visited the show at many different locations around the country and was known as “Mom” by all the circus people. Everyone will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Marie Muller and first husband, Marvin King. Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Roy Green, son, David King, step-daughters, Barbara Karn and Susie Nagle, step-grandchildren, Zach, Luke, Matt, Mindy, Darian, Sabrina and Holly and many nieces and nephews.
Her memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday on June 8th at the Paradise Valley Evangelical Lutheran Church in Phoenix. The location of her burial has not yet been determined.
