Kenneth E. Heckman, 46, of Jewell, Iowa, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, northeast of Kamrar. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell.

Kenneth Eugene Heckman, son of Alan and Arlyce Knudson Heckman was born on May 17, 1967, in Osage. He graduated from South Hamilton High School in 1986. Kenny worked for Xenia Rural Water Development and later, with his father in the family business at Tito Construction. Kenny married Lisa Ann Anderson and to this union his son, Kaden Eugene Heckman was born. Kenny and Kaden continued to operate Tito Construction serving Jewell and the surrounding area.

Kenny was totally enthralled with his new playmate Kaylee. He loved being a grandfather. Kenny enjoyed both science fiction novels and movies. He also enjoyed being at the Heckman Tree Farm in Floyd, deep sea fishing at Padre Island, Texas, and walking on the beach. Kenny enjoyed four wheelers, motorcycles and go carts. He built a go-cart track in Ellsworth where every Sunday races were on with his family and friends. Kenny had a special relationship with animals,we jokingly called him the Chicken Whisperer.

Kenny is survived by his son, Kaden (Shawna) Heckman and granddaughter Kaylee Heckman of Calmar; his parents, Alan and Arlyce Heckman; sisters, Lisa (Jim) Peterson, Jill (Larry) Tjernagel, Kerra (James) Swenson all of Jewell; his brother, Bruce Sogard of Leland; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Kenneth and Caroline Heckman, Lester and Arlene Knudson, and nephew Ike Swenson.

Kenny touched the hearts of everyone he met because he had a big heart for everyone.

Arrangements were made with the Becker Funeral Home in Jewell.
