Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 2, 1986 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, rural Osage, for Herbert Klemesrud, 90, of Osage.

Mr. Klemesrud died on Saturday, November 29, 1986 at the Osage hospital. Rev. R. Hoppenworth officiated and burial was in Rock Creek Cemetery. The Rudd American Legion Post 637 had military rites at grave site.

Mr. Klemesrud was born December 19, 1895 in West Cedar Township of Mitchell County, Iowa, to Harold and Ingeborg (Maakestad) Klemesrud. He was educated in rural schools and attended Cedar Valley Seminary in Osage.

On December 28, 1921, he married Laura Williams in Osage. he was part owner of the cheese plant in Meroa and farmed in the West Cedar Township until retiring in 1972 and moving to Osage.

Mr. Klemesrud was secretary of the Farmers Co-op Elevator of Rudd, former secretary of Rock Creek Creamery of Meroa, a life long member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Rudd Legion Post No. 637 and a veteran of World War I, having served in France.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Cora and Lilly; and two brothers, Olaf and Omar.

Survivors include his wife, Laura of Osage; a daughter, Mrs. William (Patricia) Rothmeyer of Des Moines; two sons, Robert of rural Nora Springs, and Kent of Aptos, California; two sisters, Eleanor Klemesrud of Minneapolis and Ruth Klemesrud of Osage; three brothers, Clarence and Lorin both of Osage, and Theodore of Thompson; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
