Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 6, 1987, at First Baptist Church in Osage for Clifford F. Moss, 81, of Osage, who died on Wednesday, June 3, 1987 at an Osage nursing home. Rev. Jerry Newland officiated, and burial was in the Osage Cemetery, with military rites by the American Legion Post 278 of Osage.
Mr. Moss was born on October 25, 1905 in rural Mitchell county, near Riceville, to Francis J. and Lillie (Markham) Moss. He attended rural schools, graduating from Riceville High School in 1924. He graduated from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, in 1929.
On July 3, 1932, he married Wilma Woodiwiss. He served as county auditor in Mitchell County from 1932-1937 and was employed by the Osage Farmers national Bank from 1937-1971. He retired as vice president of the bank.
He was secretary-treasurer of the Osage Conservation Club for many years. Mr. Moss was former director and secretary of the Osage Development Corp., past commander of Osage American Legion Post 278, and former member of the Osage Park Board. He was also a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, in 1969.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Linda) Lee of Edina, Minnesota; one son, Kenneth of Rochester, Minnesota; and three grandchildren: Laura and Michelle Lee and Debra Moss.
