Dolores E. Christiansen, age 89, of Osage, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, at the Commons on Marice in Eagan, Minnesota.
Memorial services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Inurnment will be at the Osage Cemetery. There will be a time for refreshments and fellowship following services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Dolores was born on August 3, 1923, in St. Ansgar, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Agnes (Miller) Intorf. She graduated from Osage High School in 1941. Dolores married Norman Christiansen on November 14, 1942, in San Diego, California. She was employed by Northwestern Bell Telephone. Norm and Dolores owned and operated the Sugar Creek A&W Drive-in in Osage from 1958 to 1971. In 197l, they moved to Sedona, Arizona where Dolores managed the Sedona Ice Cream Parlor for eight years.
She then became the designer and owner of a line of clothing that was sold throughout the southwest under the label of Dolores of Sedona. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Sedona, Arizona and also the Sedona Quilters. In 2001, Norm and Dolores moved back to Osage. She was a member of two quilting groups in Osage, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the 3rd Marine Division Association. Dolores enjoyed sewing, quilting, dancing and singing.
Dolores is survived by three daughters: Jeanne (Willi) Resler of St. Paul, Minnesota, Janet Murdock of Gilbert, Marcia (Jack) McKee of Floyd; two grandchildren: Anne Wittnebel (Collin) of Greenfield, Minnesota, Liz (Dale) Hittle of Story City; three great-grandchildren: Lauryn Wittnebel, Evelyn Wittnebel, Grace Hittle; and a brother, Walt (Marci) Intorf of Osage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norm; her parents; and a sister, Gladys Grap.
