Steve Duren, 88, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Steve was born May 5, 1924, in Cazenovia, Wisconsin, to John and Mary (Weber) Duren. He graduated from Visitation High School in Stacyville, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On September 24, 1946, Steve married Jeanette Blaser at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. He worked for the Hormel Company for 38 years until his retirement.

Steve was a member of River Oaks Golf Club, the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus and St. Edward’s Catholic Church. Steve and his wife spent the winter months in Hilton Head, South Carolina visiting friends and family. He was very active in the lives of his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.

Steve is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jeanette Duren, Austin, Minn.; sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Cheryl Duren, Hilton Head, Gary and Penny Duren, Hilton Head, Tim and Cathy Duren, Austin; grandchildren, Erica Duren, Stacey (Bert) Hardy, Jaclyn Duren, Natalie Duren, Brian (Winona) Duren, John Duren, Mary Anne Duren and Matt Duren; great-grandchildren, Erin, Alex and Sara Hardy; five brothers and two sisters; many nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 6 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church with Father Jim Steffes officiating. There will be a private committal service for the family at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may greet the family at the church on Saturday morning for one hour before the service and also after the service at the Corcoran Center when the family returns from the cemetery. Clasen-Jordan Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
