S Sgt. Bruce Charles Halbach

Bruce was born on October 4, 1949, and lived at Stacyville, Iowa. He was a sergeant in the US Army and was an Armor Reconnaissance Specialist.

Bruce died on November 19, 1970 at Thua Thien Province, South Vietnam, at the age of 21, in a helicopter crash. His body was recovered.

His unit was: C Trp, 2nd SQDN, 17TH Cavalry, 101st Airborne Div., USARV, and had started his tour on June 6, 1970.

STACYVILLE SOLDIER'S RITES SET

OSAGE, IOWA - Funeral services for Sgt. Bruce C. Halbach, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Halbach of Stacyville, who was killed in a helicopter crash in Vietnam, Nov. 19, will be at 10:30 a. m. Friday at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville.

Rosaries were scheduled for 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Visitation Cemetery with the Hatten and Son Funeral Home in Stacyville in charge of arrangements.

Sgt. Halbach was born at Osage, and attended schools in Stacyville where he was graduated from the Marian High School. He attended the Iowa State University in Ames. He entered the United States Army in June of 1969 and had been in Vietnam since June of 1970.

Survivors include his parents; five sisters: Sister Janice and Rosanne both of Rochester, Minnesota, Joann of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Marlyn and Julie at home; four brothers: Gervin of Minnesota Lake, Minnesota, Neil of Minneapolis, and Floyd and Kent at home; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Gertrude Halbach, of Stacyville.
