Clarence Joseph May, 81, of Adams, Minnesota, died Friday, November 5, 1999, at his home.

He was born August 23, 1918, at McIntire, Iowa, the son of Alois and Mary (Puettman) May. He attended rural school in the McIntire area and was married to Jolien Schaefer on Sept. 6, 1944, at Meyer, Iowa, and they had resided and farmed in the Adams area. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather and brothers, Ralph and Ron Gerber.

He is survived by his wife, Joline, of Adams; his children, Mary and husband, John Tancheff of Minneapolis; Judy and husband, Robert Osmundson of Adams; Carol and husband, Drew Anderson, of St. Paul; Arleen and husband, Stan Moren of Lakeville; Bob May of Rochester; Arlette and husband, Ricardo Kvam, of Spring Valley; 22 grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ed and Gert May of Adams; Eugene and Charlene Gerber of Austin; Stan and Stephanie Gerber of Salen, Ore., Norb and Helen Gerber of LeRoy; David and LaVonne Gerber of Rochester; Paul and Tula Gerber of Austin, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Doug Behrenfeld of Sequim, Wash., and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Gregory Leif officiating. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Adams.

Adams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
