HAZEL KACK FUNERAL SET FOR SATURDAY
Hazel M. Kack, 51, hostess and cashier at the Green Mill, died Wednesday at a Mason City hospital. She had lived in Mason City at various times but had returned here the last time about six years ago. She made her home at 304 Jefferson NW.
Born December 2, 1911, in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of Fred and Anna (Bathen) Vaughn. She attended school in Austin, Minnesota, was employed in Civil Service in Alaska seven years and for the last two years was employed at the Green Mill.
Surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George (Anna) Branscombe, Mason City; a son, Lester Saunders, Portland, Oregon and four grandchildren.
A sister; Mrs. Arthur (Katheran) Blom, Austin, Minnesota; and three brothers; Lloyd Vaughn, Chicago; Lester Vaughn, Mason City; and Howard Vaughn, Fairbanks, Alaska, also survive. She was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Major Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Duane Schroeder, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Riceville.
Pallbearers selected are Robert Vaughn, Gary Blom, Ronald Blom, Norman Thorson, Lanny Vaughn and Elliott Vaughn.
Friends may call at the chapel after 3 p.m. Friday. The family prefers that any memorials be given to the American Cancer Society.

Her first husband was Harry Saunders (dates unknown). They had one son Lester Earl Saunders who was born September 21, 1927. In 1940 she was listed as divorced and living with her mother and step-father George and Anna Branscombe.
