Glen Arthur Theobald

Glen Arthur Theobald, known as Swede by family and friends, died peacefully of pancreatic cancer on February 16, 2013, in Lake City, Minnesota, at the age of 79.

He was born in Stacyville on October 14, 1933. He graduated from Visitation High School, then served in the US Army from 1954-1956. After his discharge from the military he returned to Theobald Implement, the family business started by his father Carl. He and his brother Kenneth bought the business from Carl, and Glen continued there until his semi-retirement in 1986.

His love of the outdoors brought him to Lake City, Minn. where he spent his days fishing, walking, bike riding or taking his family and companion Margaret Selleseth out in his pontoon on Lake Peppin.

Glen enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren in Iowa and Colorado, and he and Margaret relaxed on the beach in Florida during the winter.

Glen is pre-deceased by his parents Carl and Irma, his sister Helen (Hemann), and brothers Kenneth, Roy and Robert.

He is survived by his long-time companion Margaret Selleseth of Lake City, Minn., brother Roger Theobald (Darla) of Omaha, his three children Deborah (Tom) of Estes Park, Colo., Dennis (Sue) of Ventura, and Douglas (Tami) of Mount Vernon, and his four grandchildren Joshua, Chase, Rheanna and Nicole.

Glen will be laid to rest next to his parents, sister Helen and brother Roy in the Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Stacyville. At his request, a private ceremony for immediate family will be held at a later date.
