OSAGE, IOWA - Harold A. Adams, 93, of Osage, died Monday, February 18, 2013, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 23, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Msgr. John Hemann officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in New Haven with military honors at the grave by Osage American Legion Post 278. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a rosary at 4:30 p.m.
Harold was born April 1, 1919, in rural Meyer, the son of Edward and Pauline (Hemann) Adams. He attended country schools in Iowa and Wisconsin through eighth grade. Harold served as a medic in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 34th Infantry Red Bull Division in Ireland, North Africa and Italy. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
Harold married Irene Steffen on October 21, 1950, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Haven. They farmed in Mitchell County and retired to Osage in 1984. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a member of the Osage American Legion for over 50 years.
Harold is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene Adams of Osage; his daughter, Mary Adams of Ames; three grandchildren, Jeff (Foy Spicer) Diesburg of North Manchester, Indiana, Adam (Emily) Diesburg of McMinnville, Oregon, and Steven (fiancée, Jessica Culhane) Diesburg of Seattle, Washinton; three great-grandchildren, J. Dashiell and J. Griffin Diesburg of McMinnville, Ore., and Fern Diesburg of North Manchester, Indiana; four sisters, Agnes Domino of Adams, Minnesota, Lucy Theobald of Stewartville, Minnesota, Virginia (Lorenz) Lundberg of Austin, Minnesota, and Gladys (Darrel) Severson of Tacoma, Washington; four brothers, Donald (Doris) Adams of Riceville, Alex Adams of Riceville, Harry (Jeannie) Adams of Panama City, Florida, and Edward (Elizabeth) Adams of Waverly; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Jayne Adams in 1972.
