Robert A. Decklever
WAUKEE - Robert A. Decklever, 66, of Waukee, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines surrounded by his family.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 22, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waukee. Burial is at the Saint Peter Cemetery in Toeterville. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 900 Warrior Lane, PO Box 276, Waukee, Iowa 50263.
Bob was born in Osage on Christmas Day, 1946, a son of Albion and Dorothy Decklever. He was a 1965 graduate of Creston High School and was graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1969.
He married Dee Anne Smith on January 29, 1966, in Creston. They were blessed with two daughters Dana and Heather and twin boys Lincoln and Matthew.
Bob started teaching and coaching in Red Oak before opening a furniture store in Creston. He joined his brother Bill’s company, Marketing Force, in Chicago in 1985 and transferred to the headquarters in Rochester Hills, Michigan, in 1988. He bought a vacation home in Brights Grove, Canada, on the shores of Lake Huron, where he loved spending time and where he made numerous close friends. He returned to Iowa in 2007 and bought a home in Waukee.
To keep himself busy he worked as a driver for Majestic Limousines and worked at the Laser Car Wash. He enjoyed traveling and made numerous trips out of the country with his very close friend Beth. He loved to ride his Harley, build stained glass windows, fish, play cards, play golf, rehab houses and was an avid fan of most any sport.
Survivors include his children, Dana Dunphy, Scottsdale, Ariz., Heather Brezinski, San Antonio, Texas, Lincoln, Des Moines, and Matthew (Cecily) West Des Moines; seven grandchildren; a brother Bill (Janet), Davenport and a sister Debra Tracy (Brian), Cape Girardeau, Mo.
