Mabel Etta (Baldwin) Prine – December 15, 1910 – September 22, 2010

Mabel E. Prine, 99, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at Monroe Manor, Barron, Wis.

She was born at home on Dec. 15, 1910, in the township of Arland, Barron County, the daughter of William and Eva (Underwood) Baldwin. Eva passed away when Mabel was 3 years old. She was raised by her father and stepmother, Dora Smith Baldwin.

Mabel married Luther J. Prine at Barron on March 28, 1928. Together they farmed in Maple Grove Township for several years. After retiring from the farm, they resided in Barron.

Her hands were rarely idle. Mabel enjoyed a variety of crafts, especially knitting and crocheting. Friends and family will cherish her handiwork for years to come.

Surviving are sons Dale (Agnes) of Barron and Gary (Pat) of Grand Rapids, Minn.; a daughter-in-law Milada Prine of Madison; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Eugene and 13 brothers and sisters.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, from First Baptist Church, Barron, with Pastor Darrel Robinson officiating and burial at Wayside Cemetery, Barron.

Visitation was held an hour prior to services at the church.

Rausch and Steel Funeral Home, Barron, handled arrangements.

Mary Etta Baldwin was the daughter of William Odell Baldwin and Eva May (Underwood). Her mother is buried in the Orchard Cemetery, Mitchell Co, Iowa and a couple of her brothers are in the Osage Cemetery.

Her parents lived in Floyd and Mitchell Counties Iowa and then moved to Barron County, Wisconsin.
