LAST RITES FOR
MRS. C.H. PETTIT
WILL BE TODAY

Funeral services for Mrs. C.H. Pettit, 70, will be held this afternoon (Thursday) at the Champion Funeral Home with Rev. Risse officiating. Interment will be in the Osage cemetery. Mrs. Pettit died suddenly on Monday, August 22, at her home.

Mayme Leora Burton was born July 2, 1879, at Middletown, Iowa, to Benjamin and Leora Burton. She spent her early childhood in Omaha, Nebraska, and Onawa, later moving to Waterloo.

She was married on November 26, 1900, to Claude Henry Pettit. Four children were born to this union. The early part of their married life was spent in St. Paul, Minnesota, Milwaukee, and Madison, Wisconsin, coming to Osage in 1913 where they have since lived.

She was a member of the Congregational church and a past president of the P.E.O.

Surviving are her husband, three children, Robert Burton of Haines City, Florida, Elizabeth Jane Garner of Waterloo, and John Philip of Floral City, Florida. There are also five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter surviving. One daughter, Suzanne, died in infancy.
