Funeral services were conducted January 6 at 2 o'clock at the home for John Wirth, who died at his home January 1, 1945, after a long illness. The Rev. Olaf A. Langehough officiated at the services. Interment was in the St. Ansgar City cemetery.

John Wirth, second son of John and Louisa Wirth, was born December 20, 1872 in New York City, where he was baptized and attended school. After graduation he was employed as a messenger boy. He came to Iowa at the age of 17 to join his brother, Joseph, who was farming east of St. Ansgar, and he spent the rest of his life in this community.

He was united in marriage in 1914 to Josephine Klecak and to this union three children were born.

Mr. Wirth suffered his first stroke 12 years ago and gradually gave up farming because of ill health. He had been confined to his bed for the past year.

He failed noticably the past two weeks, and passed away quietly in his sleep on January 1, 1945, having reached the age of 72 years and 12 days.

Mr. Wirth is survived by his wife, and three children, William overseas in France, Alice of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Marjorie, now Mrs. James Reynolds of Waterbury, Connecticut; one brother, Henry Wirth; and a sister, Laura Wirth and three granchildren.
