Funeral services for John Patrick Tierney, 66, of Berkeley California, and formerly of Osage, Iowa, were held Saturday, June 11, at the Freeman and Cox, Roach and Leonard Funeral Home and at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Berkeley. Interment was made in the San Fernando, California, cemetery. Mr. Tierney died June 9, in Oakland, Calif.
Mr. Tierney left Osage 30 years ago, going to the West coast. He held responsible positions in shipyards in Washington and later in California.
In 1935 he purchased a hotel in San Luis Obispo, Calif. He retired from business in 1936 and lived the rest of his life in Berkeley and in southern California. He was residing in Berkeley at the time of his death.
Mr. Tierney was a native of Chelsea, Mass. He was a member of San Luis Obispo Council 1271, Knights of Columbus, and Mission Trails Charter 61, Hotel Greeters of America.
Surviving are his wife, Adeline Marie Tierney, and two sisters and two brothers, Elizabeth, Leo and Joseph Tierney and Mrs. Margaret McCue, all of Quincy, Mass.
