Funeral services for Jack Puckett of Stacyville were held Wednesday afternoon at the Stacyville Legion Hall with Rev. E. Pencook of St. Ansgar, officiating. Hatten and Sons Funeral Home had charge of the burial rites at Sunset Rest Cemetery.
Mr. Puckett died Sunday night at his home after a few days illness. Death was due to a stroke and heart attack.
Mr. Puckett was born in Springfield, Illinois, May 7, 1883, and spent his early life on farms and in various industries. An expert mechanic, he was employed at the Jack Gardner garage in Osage, when he met and later married Mrs. Clara Green on January 4, 1927.
They operated Mrs. Puckett's farm south of town for a time, later moving to Stacyville to care for Mrs. August Dense. They built the riverside filling station in 1931, which they have operated the past 18 years.
Mr. Puckett was a member of the congregational church but while in Stacyville attended the Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife, Clara; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Martha Puckett; and a niece, Marie Puckett of Springfield, Illinois.
