FORMER CARPENTER
MAN DIED SATURDAY
AT MARSHALLTOWN

Funeral services for August Stehn, former Stacyville man, were held Tuesday, May 3, 1949, at the Connor funeral home in Northwood and burial was made in the Carpenter cemetery beside his parents and three brothers. Mr. Stehn died Saturday, April 30, at Marchalltown after a two-year illness.

August Stehn was born in Barton township, near Carpenter, on May 12, 1880, the son of Peter and Marie Stehn, pioneer residents of Mitchell and Worth counties. he spent his entire life on the home farm with the exception of the past six months, when, with his brother, George, he moved to Marshalltown to be near their sister, Mrs. Nannie Dobson, and close to hospital care.

Several years ago the two brothers, George and August, quit farming and rented to their three nephews, Peter, Walter and Freddie Stehn, and they engaged in cabinet work.

Mr. Stehn had hoped to be able to resume his work this season, but he died April 30 at the Marshalltown hospital. His body was brought to Northwood Monday.

Surviving are four brothers: Ernest of Redlands, Calif., Lieu and George of Marshalltown and Alfred of Carpenter, and one sister, Mrs. Nannie Dobson of Marshalltown.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Freddie, Willie and Herman.
