The death of Lars Gunnarsli, February 28, brought great grief to his relatives and many friends here at St. Ansgar. Mr. Gunnarsli, better known here as Louis Torgerson, was a young man endowed with rare abilities and of a noble character. He was studying for the ministry and had just one year left.
He was born in Telemarken, Norway, February 26, 1879. He came to Forest City, Iowa in 1894; attended the St. Ansgar public schools the next year. He attended the St. Ansgar Seminary two years. Next year he entered the collegiate department of the U.C. Seminary at Minneapolis. He graduated from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn. in 1902, and entered the Theological Seminary the next fall. He was taken sick and had to leave school shortly before last Christmas. He stayed with his uncle near Forest City. He was recovering, as it seemed, from consumption, when he suddenly had a relapse and died from a combination of ailments. He leaves two sisters here in St. Ansgar and parents and near relatives in Norway. Their loss is great, but their loss is his gain. May this thought console them in their bereavement.
