Richard "Dick" Conger, 84 of Riceville, Iowa, passed away at home Sunday, December 23, 2012, quietly and peacefully in the presence of family.
He was born May 10, 1928, in Riceville, Iowa, to Clarence and Alyce (Jennings) Conger.
Dick graduated from Riceville High School in 1946 and Iowa State University in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in Forestry. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force as Master Sergeant.
He married Elizabeth "Betty" Neis on August 8, 1951, in Riceville, Iowa.
Dick was a man who loved meeting people and gave of his talents to others such as St. Vincent De Paul Society, Peninsula Driftwood Artists and Newcomers Club. He was a loving husband and father who always wanted his children and grandchildren to love each other and to enjoy life.
Dick is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Betty; daughters, Cindy (Chuck) Meyer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Val (Kent) Ferris of Seattle, Washington; son, Tim (Molly) Conger of Nashville, Tennessee; and grandchildren Drew, Reed, Aaron, Ryan, Will and Joey. He is also survived by his brother, Doug (Donna) Conger; and sister, Sharon Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Dean Conger; and sisters Pauline Moore and Kate Moss.
A celebration of life has been scheduled 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2013, at St Joseph Church, 121 East Maple Street, Sequim, WA 98382. At a later date, a celebration of life and burial will take place in Riceville, Iowa.
