Louis Leonard Fjelde (Field) was born December 29, 1894 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Lewis (Lars) Fjelde and Hanna Emelia Johnson, the second of their four children. He was baptized at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa on February 24, 1895. His baptismal sponsors were: Endre (Andrew) Fjelde and wife; Martha Fjelde and Tosten Finsand. Louis' siblings were Mabel, Peter Raymond and Jessie Howard (all used the spelling Field for their surname, a variation of Fjelde.)

Louis graduated from the Northwood, Iowa High school and attended Iowa State University at Ames, Story, Iowa. He married Mildred Grace McKercher on August 20, 1919 at Manly, Worth, Iowa. The couple had three daughters.

Found Louis in the 1895 and 1900 censuses living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1895: Louis Fjelde age 0.

1900: Lewis Field 34, Hanna J Field 29, Mabel A Field 7, Louis L Field 5, Peter R Field 3.

Found in the 1905 to 1940 censuses at Kensett, Lincoln, Worth, Iowa:
1910: Lewis Field 44, Hanna Emilia Johnson Field 39, Mabel B Field 17, Louis L Field 15, Raymond P Field 13, Jesse H Field 8, Dreng Gunderson 24, Ella Bakker 18.

1920: Lewis Field 52, Hannah Field 49, Louis Field 25, Mabel Field 27, Mildred Field 25, Raymond Field 22, Lars Johnson 84. 1925: L L Field age 30.

1930: Louis L Field 35, Mildred Field 35, Miriam Field 8, Lois Field 6, James Kline 21.

1940: Louis L Fields 45, Miriam R Fields 18, Lois L Fields 16, Doris E Fields 8, Lewis Fields 70, Hannah Fields 70.

Louis Leonard Field died September 12, 1982 at Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa and was buried at the Manly Cemetery, Manly, Worth, Iowa.
