Andrew J. Anderson Dies – Lived Here for 50 Years

Andrew J. Anderson, who had lived for 50 years in Riceville, died at Cedar Valley Hospital at Charles City, Sunday. Mr. Anderson was well and favorably known throughout the community.

Andrew J. Anderson was born December 12, 1869 at Bergen, Norway, and passed away March 11, 1956, at the age of 87 years and three months.

He came to LeRoy, Minnesota, at the age of 18. He made a return trip to his native land at the age of 28.

He was united in marriage to Anna Diederich, April 19, 1898, at North Washington, Iowa. To this union were born seven children – Peter, Fort Dodge, Iowa; William, Waterloo, Iowa; Carl, Riceville; John, Tampa, Florida; Helen (Mrs. Ivan Minnis), Aurora, Missouri; Edmund and Margaret (Mrs. John Swan) both of Riceville.

In 1900 they moved from LeRoy to a farm two and a half miles north and one mile west of Riceville, where they lived until they moved to their home in Riceville.

Surviving are his wife, children, 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two nieces, Sigrid Anderson and Agnes Brandt, New York, New York.
