Nils Pedersen (Peterson) Fagrebakken (Fagre) was born September 21, 1835 at Fagrebakke, Sigdal, Buskerud, Norway to Peder Torgersen Fagrebakken and Live Nilsdatter Solumsmoen, the second of their thirteen children.

Nils was baptized October 11, 1835 and confirmed October 20, 1850 both at Sigdal, Buskerud, Norway. Birth/baptism record at Norwegian Digital Archives on-line for Sigdal in Sigdal, Buskerud, Norway 1829-1843, page 16, entry # 35. Confirmation record at Norw. Dig. Arch. Sigdal in Sigdal, Buskerud, Norway 1835-1856, pg 638, entry #16.

Nils emigrated to America between 1850 and 1861 and settled at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa on farmland. He married Ingeborg Anna Svendsen in 1868 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had two sons:
Theodore Pedersen Fagre (born December 30, 1869 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, married Anna Karine Maakestad May 15, 1898 Meroa, Iowa, died May 11, 1953 Blooming Prairie, Steele, Minnesota) and
Nicholai Fagrebakken Pedersen (born January 29, 1871 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, married Olava Pedersdatter Docken June 28, 1908 at Rock Creek Lutheran, Meroa, Iowa, died April 16, 1942 Rochester, Olmsted, Minnesota).

Found in the 1870 census living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, Says born 1830 which is an error, farming, Nels Fagerbac 40, Myher (mother) Fagerbac 30, Ole (Theodore) Fagerbac 6/12.

Nils died February 13, 1873 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa (one source says 1872) and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Note: Nils' widow, Ingeborg, married Nils' younger brother Hans Pedersen Fagrebakken about a year and a half later.
