Kenneth Paul Simon, 74, of Waterloo, died at home Wednesday, October 17, 2012, of lung cancer.

He was born May 16, 1938, in Iowa City, son of Joseph and Christina (Halfman) Simon. He married Darlene A. Foster Good on July 5, 1972, in Missouri.

Mr. Simon graduated from Visitation Catholic High School, Stacyville, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked on the wheel and tire assembly line at John Deere Tractor Manufacturing Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1998. He was a UAW member.

Kenneth is survived by his wife; four sons: Tim (Michele) Good of Cedar Rapids, Jack (Deva) Good and Steven (Amy) Simon, both of Waterloo, and Michael (Melody) Good of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Jodie (Jim) Krebsbach of Aurora; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; two brothers, Marvin of Cedar Falls and Wilbur (Charlotta) of Osage; four sisters, Helen Church of Stacyville, Arlene Hartnell and Jeanne (Adrian) Blake, both of Austin, Minnesota, and Marian Leonaitis of Zion, Illinois; and a sister-in-law, Lou Ann Simon of St. Ansgar.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Krebsbach; a brother, Laverne; a sister, Kathryn Simon; a sister-in-law, Millie Simon; and three brothers-in-law, Charles Church, Bob Hartnell and Stan Leonaitis.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and Waterloo AMVETS Post 19, assisted by U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family or to the church.
