Iva Carrie Erbe was born September 12, 1891 at Cedar township, Mitchell County, Iowa to Mary Ellen Gast (born in Iowa) and Henry Erbe (born in Wisconsin).

Found in the 1895 to 1920 censuses living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:

1895: Iry Erbe age 3.

1900: Henry Erbe 36, Mary Erbe 34, Iva C. Erbe 8, Cora I. Erbe 7, John H. Erbe 5, Ira C. Erbe 3, Annie G. Erbe 1, Welcome J Erbe 1/12.

1910: Harry Esbe (should be Erbe) 45, Mary Esbe 45, Iva Esbe 18, Cora Esbe 17, John Esbe 15, Ira Esbe 13, Gladys Esbe 12, Walcome Esbe 10, Harvey Esbe 8, Carl Esbe 6, Mary Esbe 4, Hans Erickson 45.

1915: Iva Erbe age 23.

1920: Henry Erbe 55, Mary E. Erbe 54, Iva C. Erbe 28, Cora I. Erbe 27, John H. Erbe 25, Anne G. Erbe 21, Welcome J. Erbe 19, Harvey F. Erbe 18, Carl A. Erbe 16, Mary E. Erbe 14.

Iva married Hovel Borgersen Flatla on February 21, 1922 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

The couple had four children:
Helen Beate (born March 3, 1923, died August 5, 2002 New Mexico, married Dr. William Calhoun);

Kaila (Karla?) (born abt 1926 Mitchell, Iowa);

Harold (born 1927 Mitchell Co, Iowa);

Pearl Iva (born 1928 Rock, Mitchell, IA, died Nov. 12, 1930, buried Osage City Cemetery).

Found in the 1930, 1940 censuses living at Rock township, Mitchell county, Iowa:

1930: Hovel Flatla 48, Iva Flatla 38, Hellen Flatla 7, Koila Flatla 4 7/12, Harold Flatla 3, Pearl Flatla 1 7/12, Lawrance Trego 15.

1940: Hovel Flatla 58, Iva C. Flatla 48, Helen B. Flatla 17, Kaila M. Flatla 14, Harold I. Flatla 13, Kjeratte (Kjersti, Hovel's mother) Flatla 83.

Iva Flatla died April 5, 1983 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the Osage City Cemetery.

Arrangements are incomplete at the Champion Funeal Home for Iva Flatla, 91, who died Tuesday April 5, 1983, at Faith Home in Osage, Iowa.
