Kari (Carrie) Hansdatter Enger was born January 22, 1834 at Bergsvensrud, Enger, Aadal, Buskerud, Norway to Hans Hansen and Kari Nielsdatter Enger. Kari was baptised at the Viker Kirke (Church), Aadal, Buskerud, Norway on June 15, 1834. Birth record found at Norwegian Digital Archives on-line for Viker in Adal, 1832-1840, page 12, entry # 10. Baptismal sponsors: Gjertrud Enger, Jorand Throndsdatter Enger, Guri Olsdatter, Elling Enger and Jons Nielsen.
Kari married Ole Olsen Lindelien on April 11, 1859 at the Viker Kirke, Aadalen, Buskerud, Norway. Marriage record found at Norwegian Digital Archives on-line for Adal, Buskerud, Norway 1857-1883, pg 471, entry # 4: Ole 26 years old, Kari 25 yrs old.
The couple had five children while living in Norway and emigrated with those children in 1869 to Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. They settled on a farm where three more children were born. The family used the surname Lindley after emigration and Kari used the spelling Carrie.
Their eight children were:
Ole Olsen Lindley (June 12, 1859 Buskerud, Norway to December 6, 1934 Iowa City, Johnson, Iowa);
Kari Olsdatter Lindley (born December 3, 1860 Buskerud, Norway, died after 1930 at South Dakota);
Hans Olsen Lindley (born April 19, 1863 Buskerud, Norway, died May 16, 1922 Hubbard, Minnesota);
Gulbrand (Gilbert) Olsen Lindley (born August 5, 1865 Lindelien, Aadal, Buskerud, Norway, died 1951 Mitchell Co, Iowa);
Thorvald (Thomas) Olsen Lindley (born January 8, 1868 Buskerud, Norway, died November 2, 1943 Rock, Mitchell, Iowa);
Levi Oscar Lindley (born February 13, 1871 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, died February 21, 1893 Mitchell, Iowa);
Henrik (Henry) Olsen Lindley (born March 13, 1873 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, died May 15, 1955 Mitchell Co, Iowa); and
Olava Olsdatter Lindley (born April 11, 1875 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, died at same on April 21, 1875).

1885: Oley Lindly 55, Carrie Lindly 50, Oley Lindly 24, Hans Lindly 20, Carra Lindly 22, Gilbert Lindly 18, Tom Lindly 15, Levi Lindly 12, Henry Lindly 9.
1895: Carrie Lindley age 61.
