Funeral services were conducted June 13th at Trinity Lutheran Church for Carl Fred Voight, 79, who died Saturday morning of an apparent heart attack. Interment was at the Grafton Cemetery with the Rev. Edward M. Lang conducting the services.
Carl Voight, the son of Carl and Bertha Voight, was born near Whittemore, January 18, 1893. He was baptized Feb. 18, 1893, and confirmed on March 24, 1907, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Whittemore.
He attended local schools in Whittemore and was a veteran of World War I, having served in the United States Army in 1918.
On April 12, 1925, he was united in marriage to Esther Bublitz in Grafton. After his marriage they lived in Whittemore for five years, In 1930, they moved to St. Ansgar. Two years later they moved to Osage and resided here until 1968. Following the death of his wife, he resided with his son and family in Villa Park, IL. He returned to Osage in 1971.
He had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage since 1934, where he served in the past as one of the congregation's deacons on the church council. He was a member of Post 278 American Legion in Osage.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther who passed away April 18, 1968; his parents; his brothers, Otto and Ewald; and his sisters, Mrs. Ed Hanson of Algona, and Mrs. William Schwanke of Cedar Falls.
Survivors include his son Carl Jr., Cheshire, CT, three grandchildren, two brothers, Herman and Archie of Whittemore; three sisters, Julia (Arch) Mather, Margaret (Arnold) Wagner, both of Whittemore, Ella Johnson, and Bertha (Bob) Ostwald, Cedar Falls; many nieces and nephews.
