Robert Allen Grimm, age 63, currently of Lake Mills and formerly of Mitchell, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at V.A. Medical Center in Des Moines.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage. Following the visitation, cremation will take place. Inurnment services will be held at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell with military honors.
Robert was born December 20, 1948, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of John and Norma (Stanton) Grimm. He attended Mitchell schools. Robert served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a radio communication specialist from October 1969 to October 1970.
On August 23, 1969, he was united in marriage to Marjo Koster. To this union, three children were born, Ken, Travis and Jason. Robert was employed at Winnebago, White Farm, Dammen Farms and Norsemen Trucking, retiring in 2011. He enjoyed truck driving, camping, fishing and NASCAR. He had a passion for Chevrolet, especially Corvettes. Robert especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Robert is survived by two sons, Ken (April) Grimm of Little Cedar, Jason Grimm of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; Marjo Grimm of Charles City; special extended family, the Don and Marilyn Helfter family; sisters, Marge Olson and Shirley (Dick) Frank; brothers, Jiggs (Janet) Grimm and Chuck (Jackie) Grimm; and many nieces and nephews; half brothers and sisters, Jake (Betty) Grimm, Gladys (Gail Garrison, Ileen Mostek, Sonny (Bonnie) Grimm, Dottie (Virgil) Counsell, Roger (Leta) Grimm, Willy Grimm, and Betty (Arly) Ward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Grimm and Norma Grimm Wells; and his son, Travis Grimm in 1999.
