BURNS ARE FATAL
Ladysmith, Wisconsin – Mrs. Edith Rustad, 78, died today at St. Mary’s Hospital here of burns she received yesterday when a kerosene stove flared up, igniting her dress and setting fire to her home, which burned to the ground.

#2:Stacyville – Word has been received of the death of two former Stacyville residents; Mrs. Edith Rustad, of Glenn Flora, Wisconsin, at her farm home of burns received when her oil stove exploded while she was getting dinner.
She was taken to a hospital, where she died the following morning. Her home was completely destroyed.
Her older sister, Mrs. Hattie Penney Angel Atherton, 81, who had been living with her for several years, was in a hospital suffering with pneumonia and she died the following day, April 1, 1946.
They were the oldest and youngest daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Penney, who farmed south of Stacyville in pioneer days.

#3:Edith May Penney was born June 2, 1868 in Mitchell County, Iowa, the daughter of Frank Alonzo Penney and Caroline A. (Barker) Penney.
She married Sigurd Conrad Rustad. He was born October 2, 1865 and died March 20, 1894 and is buried in the Rustad Cemetery, Otranto, Mitchell County, Iowa.
One son Frank Christian Rustad born June 12, 1893, died on January 16, 1894 and is also buried in the Rustad Cemetery.
