A NORTH IOWA EDITOR PASSES

Cresco Times: Henry A. Yager, for 35 years publisher of the Riceville Recorder, died at his home in Riceville, August 2. He was 77 years old.

Mr. Yager was active in the civic affairs of his home town, a man of high ideals and sterling character which made him a useful citizen.
We understand a son who has been associated with his father will continue the business.

The Riceville Recorder, a weekly paper, was established in 1884 by W. s. Dinsmore. Dinsmore sold the paper to Enos Ricker and it passed on to a number of owners and publishers, including Burke & Whipple, C. R. Graves; F. E. Dano; Matt McCook; Andrews & Lowry, after which the firm name was changed to Andrews and St. John.

They sold the business to F. J. Stillman, who sold it to the late Henry Yager in 1906.
The firm was known as Henry A. Yager and son, and he operated the business many years on Main Street adjacent to the Riceville State Bank. The plant was then moved to the present location.

Upon the death of Henry Yager in 1942 the family closed the plant.

From part an article about the Riceville Recorder dated November 19, 1962
