IRVING WINER RITES HELD AT RICEVILLE
Riceville – Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon for Irving Winer, 60, of Riceville, with burial in Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. William Horsman of the First Baptist Church of Riceville was in charge.
Irving Winer was born March 3, 1901, on a farm near Stacyville, first son of John and Bessie (Hawkins) Winer. He lived his entire life in Mitchell County.
On June 14, 1930, he was married to Bernice Harshbarger at the Little Brown Church near Nashua, Iowa. They began their married life on a farm south of Little Cedar and later moved to the present home northeast of McIntire.
On October 4, 1957, Mrs. Winer was killed in an automobile accident northwest of Riceville. Two years later, December 4, 1959, he was married to Katie Smalley Wolff, in Austin.
For the past three weeks he had been a patient at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital where he died Saturday.
He is survived by his wife, two step-children; a brother, Sydney, Stacyville; two sisters; Mrs. Lynn (Leona) Fesenmeyer, Riceville; and Mrs. Ben (Mabel) Faas, Stacyville.
He had been a board member of the R.E.A in St. Ansgar many years, and also had been a director of the Farmers’ Mutual Insurance Co., in Osage for some time.
He was affiliated with the Hy-Cross Hatchery in Mason City, selling Hyline Chicks, and in December of this year, he would have completed 20 years as a salesman for the Pioneer Seed Co., of Des Moines.
