RICEVILLE MAN IS FOUND DEAD
RITES INCOMPLETE FOR CHARLIE DAY

Riceville – Charlie Day, 65, was found dead in bed Monday morning at the home of his son, Francis Day.

It was not known how long he had been dead. Mrs. Day lives with a daughter in Superior, Wisconsin.

There are four sons and three daughters living. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Charles Clifford Day was born June 11, 1876 in Illinois, the son of James Day and Jane (Redden) Day. He married Charlottie Thompson, the daughter of William Thompson and Martha (Anderson) Thompson.

His World War I Draft Registration has his birth date as June 11, 1876, but his tombstone in the Riverside Cemetery, Riceville, Mitchell, Iowa has it as June 1st.

They were the parents of eight children. Surviving him were sons Clyde, Walter, Francis, and Harlan and daughters Fern, Maud and Opal. One son Harry preceded him in death in 1940.

CHARLES DAY DIES
AT HOME, RICVILLE

Charlie Day, 66, well-known Riceville man, was found dead in bed Monday morning at the home of his son, Francis, where he had made his home. He apparently had been dead for some hours.

Mr. Day was born at Princeton, Illinois, June 11, 1876, and moved to Riceville with his family about 23 years ago. He has been engaged in farm work and at present was living with his son and assisting him.

He is survived by his wife and the following children: Harlan, of Superior, Wisconsin; Francis, Riceville; Walter, Waterloo; Opal, Maude, and Clyde, whose addresses the Press-news did not learn.

Funeal service was held Wednesday afternoon at the Riceville funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Bodenham, and burial was in Riverside cemetery.
