Michelle Anne (Lockie) Hodina – July 16, 1945 – May 31, 2007
Michelle Anne Hodina, 61, of 2385 Daleview Drive, died Thursday, May 31, 2007, in her home following a short illness.
Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, by Rev. Greg Bahl. Burial: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, with a vigil service at 5:00 p.m.
Survivors include her husband, Gary; two sons, James (Shawn) Hodina of Cedar Rapids and Theodore (fiance, Allison Craig) Hodina of Dallas, Texas; her parents, Charles and Dorothy Lockie of Marion; and a brother, Michael (Janet) Lockie of Austin, Minnesota.
Also surviving are two grandchildren, Tyler and Regan Hodina.Michelle was born to Charles and Dorothy (Regan) Lockie on July 16, 1945, in Riceville, Iowa.
She graduated from Osage High School in 1963 and Kirkwood Community College. On July 3, 1965, in Marion, she was married to Gary Hodina. They have resided in the Cedar Rapids and Marion area since 1964. Michelle worked for the Cedar Rapids School District and then Wellmark, where she retired in 2006.She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother, who always sought to make everyone happy and cared for. Seen by all as a very bright, capable woman, she gave of herself in a very humble and unassuming manner. Michelle was a loyal, accepting and nonjudgmental friend. She loved to read, enjoy the outdoors, and spend time with her family.
Michelles only remaining wish is to be remembered fondly. She will be missed by all.
