Sophie Eva Marie (Schmidt) Cramer – August 22, 1893 – October 21, 1989

SOPHIE CRAMER, 96, of Clarion died Saturday afternoon at the Clarion Community Hospital.
Services were at the First United Methodist Church in Clarion, with the Rev. Jerald Swanberg officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Clarion.

Survivors in son, Leonard, Clarion; daughter, Delores Wright, Springfield, Ill.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Schmidt, Mountain Home, Ark., and August Schmidt, Riceville.

Sophie Schmidt was born in Hinckley, Ill. In 1907 she moved with her family to McIntire and later to a farm near Riceville. In 1914 she married Herman J. Cramer at Clarion.

The couple farmed in Riceville from 1914 to 1919 and the Clarion area from 1920 until 1962 when they retired to town. Her husband died in 1966.

She was a member of the United Methodist Women,
the Adah Chapter No. 136 Order of Eastern Star, the White Shriine, Rebekah Lodge No. 501, Royal Neighbors of America, the Lincoln Club, and Farm Bureau.

Sophie Eva Marie Schmidt was born August 22, 1893 in Illinois, the daughter of Leonhardt Schmidt and Elizabeth Catherine (Michel) Schmidt.
Her parents are buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Riceville, Mitchell, Iowa
