Emma (Smith) Woodward Farnham – August 8, 1844 – April 29, 1905
Emma Smith was born August 8, 1844 in Orange County, Vermont, the daughter of Warren Smith and Sarah (Brown) Smith.
She married Edmond Woodward in 1866 in Rock County, Wisconsin. In 1871 they removed to Iowa, settling on section 11, Lincoln Township. Edmond died March 28, 1878 leaving her with three small children, Hattie, Elmer and Ernest.
In 1880 she married Willard Farnham, the brother-in-law of her husband Edmond Woodward. He had lost his wife Emily (nee Woodward) in 1853 and in 1879 Willard moved to Mitchell County.
Willard and Emma had one son together, Ralph Delbert Farnham who was born June 14, 1881 in Mitchell County.
Emma was preceded in death by her two husbands and a daughter Hattie Woodward who died in 1880 at the age of 12.
She was survived by sons, Elmer and Ernest Woodward and son Ralph Farnham.
