Carrie (Stockdale) Teeple – May 13, 1861 – September 8, 1933

CARRIE STOCKDALE TEEPLE

Carrie Stockdale Teeple was born May 13, 1861 in Browns County, Indiana, and died in the early hours of the morning of September 8th, 1933, at her home north of Riceville, after an illness of three years or more, being 72 years and nearly 4 months of age at the time of her passing.

When a child she moved with her parents to McGregor, Iowa. Later the family lived at Castalia and then came to Howard County where in 1880 she was married to Albert Teeple. She had lived the remainder of her life in this vicinity.

During the last two months of her life she had suffered much pain and won the admiration of those who cared for her by her patience and fortitude. Her husband preceded her to death in 1923.

She is survived by one daughter; Mrs. Maude Woodard; one sister Mrs. Ella Nichols of Chester; and one brother; Albert Stockdale of Lime Springs. out of a family of four sisters and two brothers, also four grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who will miss the cheery greeting and warm welcome of “Aunt Carrie” as she was known to many.

She dearly loved her home and it was her wish to be there among its familiar surroundings when her last call should come.

Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Teeple, on Sunday, September 10th, at 2:00 o’clock, in charge of Rev. E. Bodenham.

Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery--Riceville Recorder
