Delores J. (Ripka) Tieman, 80 1931-2012

Delores June Tieman, 80, of rural St. Ansgar, Iowa, died Sunday morning, May 20, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.

She was born November 6, 1931, to James and Grace (Day) Ripka in the West Concord area. After growing up in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, the family moved to Rose Creek where Delores graduated from high school. She re-located to Brownsdale, Minnesota, until her marriage to Justin Tieman on May 18, 1957, at Marshall Lutheran Church in Adams, Minn. They made their home near Mona, Iowa. A member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lyle, Delores enjoyed children, baking, working in the garden, plants and pets. She also volunteered at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home for 12 years.

Survivors include her husband, Justin Tieman; children, Dennis (Debra) Tieman of Fremont, Wis., Darwin Tieman of Austin, Minn., LaRae Tieman of St. Ansgar, Iowa, Spencer Tieman of Osage, Iowa, Debra (Rick) Smith of LeSueur, Minn., Bryan Tieman of Lyle, Minn., Douglas Tieman of Austin, Denise Tieman of Apple Valley, Minn.; 14 grandchildren, Gabrielle, Timothy, Andrew, Jonathan, Bethany, Matthew, Ruth, Nicholas, Stephanie, Michael and Joshua Smith, Sarah Lester, Shaelyn and Jada Curry; one great-grandchild, Marcus Tieman; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in
death by her parents, Grace and James Ripka.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lyle with Pastor Barbara Finley-Shea officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Greenwood Cemetery, rural Brownsdale. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com. The family prefers memorials to Wycliff Bible Translaters for her grandson’s missionary service.
