Dale Edward Brockney – July 5, 1937 – April 30, 2008

Dale E. Brockney, 70, of Charles City, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag of the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, in Riceville. Flag presentation and taps will be presented by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Dale Edward Brockney was born July 5, 1937, at Riceville, the son of Roy and Geneva (Cary) Brockney. He attended school in Riceville. Dale served in the United States Army from March 1, 1956 to December 8, 1958. On April 5, 1975, he was united in marriage to Margaret Arndt at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City.

Dale was employed at White / Oliver Farm for 34 years, Iowa Department of Transportation for six years and drove for the Foster Grandparents. He was a member of the V.F.W. and Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. His interests included camping, fishing, hunting fox, watching NASCAR especially Jeff Gordon # 24 and spending time with his grandchildren.

Living family members include his wife Margaret Brockney of Charles City; five children, Robert (Linda) Brockney of Urbandale, Nancy Brockney of Colo., Becky Brockney of Colo., Connie Brockney of Kans. and David (Nicole) Brockney of Charles City; eight grandchildren; one sister, Karen Heskett of Minneapolis, Minn.; one brother, Duane (Judy) Brockney of Osage; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
