Norris Selvin Groth was born on January 15, 1915, at St. Ansgar, Iowa, the son of Anton Conrad Groth and Ida Bertine (Gunderson) Groth. He was baptized at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. He graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1932.
The 1920 federal census for St. Ansgar town, Mitchell county, Iowa, listed "Norris" as age 4 11/12.
He married Lillian Adelaide Norby on March 4, 1939, in Minneapolis, at Our Saviors Lutheran church.
Norris died on March 19, 1990 at age 75.
He is buried in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Burnsville, Dakota, Minnesota.
