L. PLAGMANN RITES TO BE WEDNESDAY
Lloyd R. Plagmann, 48, 648 Taylor S.W, died Sunday of a gunshot wound. Dr. Joseph E Christopherson Cerro Gordo County Medical Examiner ruled that the wound was self-inflicted.
The chest wound was suffered about 5 p.m. at a quarry a half mile south of Portland. He died at 6:15 p.m. in a Mason City Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist church in Riceville. The Bradley-Chisholm Funeral Home, Riceville, is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a son, two daughters, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Plagmann, Riceville.
Mr. Plagmann, a bookkeeper for the Carnation Milk Co., was a World War II Veteran.
The fatal shot was fired from a .22 caliber revolver. Four men, at the quarry to test their shotguns saw him roll down an embankment after the shot was fired.Mason City Globe Gazette, September 14, 1964
