A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, at the Old Stone United Methodist Church, Rock Falls with Rev. Wendy Johannesen officiating. According to her wishes, the body was cremated. There will be a luncheon and fellowship with family and friends immediately following the service.

Alice was born on September 16, 1920, the only child of Zora and Anna (Peterson) Guthrie, in Mason City. Alice's mother passed away when she was 15 years old. Alice graduated from Mason City High School in 1939. On June 21, 1941, she was united in marriage to Richard "Dick" Eugene Luse in Mason City. Dick and Alice were avid campers and charter members of the River City Roamers. Together they enjoyed many camping and fishing trips to South Dakota with family and friends. Following Dick's retirement from Northwestern States Portland Cement Company, they spent many years managing the High Chaparral RV Park in Arizona City, Arizona, during the winter months and lived in Rock Falls, Iowa, during the summer months.

After her husband's death, Alice moved to Willow Point in Mason City, then to Apple Valley Assisted Living in Osage. She kept busy sewing over 100 Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. She became a resident of Faith Lutheran Home in February 2009.

Alice is survived by two sons, Bill of St. Ansgar and John and wife Carole of Osage; son-in-law Larry Dorenkamp and wife Sue of Rock Falls; grandchildren, Toni (Mark) Rock, Dean Trebilcock, Ricky (Kim) Luse, Raymie Luse, Tara Yarbrough and Erin Feingold; step-grandchildren, Steve, Matt and Mike Dorenkamp, and Luke, Zach and Hannah Davis; 13 great-grandchildren, Jeff Worthen, John Carter, Josh Trebilcock, Heather Trebilcock, Ashley (Dustin) Shackelford, Jakob Luse, Caleb Luse, Peyton Luse, Stephanie Yarbrough, Michael Yarbrough, Eric Yarbrough, Erica Yarbrough and Ellie Feingold; five great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Helen Klein of Mason City, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
