Alta Elaine Van Hooser

OSAGE, IOWA - Alta Elaine Van Hooser, age 84, of Osage, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a. m. Saturday, April 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage with the the Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Manly, Iowa. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Alta was born August 25, 1927, in Meltonville, Iowa, the daughter of Nels and Alma (DeMaris) Anderson. Alta married Vern Van Hooser on August 13, 1943, in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Alta is survived by four children, Carol (Craig) Mennenga of Osage, Beverly (Melvin) Wiseman of Moravia, Michael (Iva) Van Hooser of Nora Springs, and Susan (Doug) Warburton of Northwood; a daughter-in-law, Sally Van Hooser of Forest City; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Doris (Robert) Pflieger of Manly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vern in 1978; a son, Patrick; a granddaughter, Kathleen Vestweber; a great-granddaughter, Chloe Pals; five brothers: Russell, Victor, Howard, Neil and Dean Anderson; and by a sister, Faye Eckart.
