Funeral services for Mrs. Vernon (Carrie) Roby, 74, of rural McIntire, Iowa, are today, Wednesday, November 7, 1984, at the Little Cedar Methodist Church in Little Cedar. Rev. Loyd Johnson will officiate at the service. Services will also be held in the Perry Methodist Church with burial in the People's Cemetery, rural Woodward. Champion Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Carrie Roby was born on December 18, 1909 near Bouton, the daughter of Harry and Della Burkhart Bice. She was raised in the Bouton area.
On February 10, 1932 she was united in marriage to Vernon Roby in Perry. They farmed near Woodward until 1957 when they moved to rural McIntire. She was a member of the Little Cedar Methodist Church and the Neighborhood Club. She was well known in the area for the flowers she raised and contributed to all the churches, nursing homes and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant child and five brothers.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon; one daughter, Mrs. Mark (Nancy) Volratch of Rock Island, Illinois; two sons, Carroll Roby of Davenport and Martin Roby of Carver, Minnesota; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
