RICEVILLE - Donald Wayne Fjetland, 76, died Sunday, March 18, 2012, in Arizona.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 5, at the Osage Cemetery. Lunch and fellowship will follow at the Osage VFW. The Lindstrom Funeral Home of Riceville is in charge of arrangements.
Donald was born Dec. 13, 1935, in Rowen, Iowa, to Dan and Sadie Fjetland. He married Ilalee Johnson in 1956. To this union two children were born.
Donald was a member of the U.S. Army and served in Korea 1953-1955. He worked for the Chicago Great Western Railroad until it closed then farmed in the Riceville area. After retiring from farming, he enjoyed spending his winters in Fountain Hills and Apache Junction, Arizona. He passed away in Arizona of natural causes.
He is survived by his daughter Beverly (Dan) Kauffman and their three children Madison, Jacob and Spencer of Fountain Hills, Arizona, his granddaughters Tara Adams of Little Cedar, and Ilalee Fjetland of Riceville. Also surviving are his three brothers, Eldon of Riceville, Lorin (Marcella) of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Larry (Ruby) of Arkansas, four sisters, Donna Johnson of Belmond, Vivian (Delbert) Pals of Alexander, Judy Peil of Alexander, and Betty (Scott) Dungey of Osage.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Connie Adams, two brothers Darold and Danny and his sister Lila Hopkey and his parents Dan and Sadie Fjetland.
