The people here were much startled to hear of the death of Sam Ring last Saturday. Although people knew he had been in poor health for quite a long time no one thought the end was so near. He died of quick consumption Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. The funeral will be held in the Norwegian Lutheran church today at two o'clock.

#2:Samuel Nelson (Soren Nielsen) Ring was born on May 8, 1863 at Denmark to Niels Nielson Ring and Ane Marie Petersdatter. He had a brother named Niels Peder Ring (who married a Johanna Marie) and a sister named Marilyn Watt who also emigrated to America.
In 1887, the family left Holme, Draby Parish, Randers County, Denmark to emigrate to Mitchell Co, Iowa, first settling near Riceville. They then lived near Mitchell, Iowa and finally near St. Ansgar, Iowa.
Found in the 1895 census living at Mitchell, Mitchell, Iowa: Samuel Ring age 30.
Samuel married Inga Karoline Hansdatter Andersen (Anderson) on August 29, 1896 at St. Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had no children. He was a farmer.
Family found in the 1900 census living on a farm at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa: Sam N. Ring 37, Inga C. Ring 25, Annie Anderson 22, Clara Anderson 15, Olaf O. Rustad 30. Annie was working as a dressmaker.
Sam Ring died on April 25, 1903, at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa, from TB after only seven years of marriage.
He was buried at the St Ansgar City Cemetery, St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.
There is a memorial for him at FindAGrave (#88001832).
(Sam's nephews: Rasmus Watt (1885 -1888) and Frederick Watt (1886 - 1888) are buried at the Norwegian Lutheran Church Cemetery in St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa). His widow, Inga married a Rustad and the couple moved to North Dakota to homestead. She died and is buried at North Dakota
